~HOMOSEXUAL BRIGADE 4 EVA~

December 2010
I’ve arrived at my friend, Robyn’s house, finally. She’s away for NYE but is gracious enough to lend me her house for the weekend! She’s honestly the nicest person ever: she left this note, all like: sorry for the mess (the house is spotless), eat the food, drink the booze, whatever you want. Suuuper awesome!

Waiting forTavis at the bus depot was like a slow death, but all was well. We went for lunch then to Wal-Mart and the Liquor Board (the party we are going to is probably going to be dry, but we’ll hit up an after-party I’m sure). It was all judging others and dirty euphemisms, just like old times. Can’t wait to see the rest of the gang tonight.

But for now, its time to nap. I feel like I was up all night. I’ll need sleep now if I want to actually do that tonight.

So, good-night for now.
Here’s hoping for internet access in my NYE crib.
How weird is it that others on my Dash are already celebrating midnight on New Year’s Eve? I guess I get to thinking that we are all so connected and close here on Tumblr and I forget how far apart we really are. Here I am, barely awake, eating eggs at 8:00am because I have to get on the bus this morning, while out there in Tumblrland, some of you are ringing in the new year, in god knows where, dressed up, looking good and having a great time (or dressed up in your PJs on Tumblr, I can’t blame you for that!). Either way, I’d like to wish you all a happy, blessed new year or something, I don’t know I’m really tired.
Well, hey hey hey! I didn’t even know A Single Man was set around NYE! How appropriate!
A song for New Year’s Eve.
The New Year’s Eve Preparations have begun. Tonight I take care of the basics: pores, hairs, curls and eyebrows. I’ve already straightened my hair and next I’ll steam my face before applying a mask and shaving my legs whilst I wait. Then comes the plucking, keeping the orangutan gene in check. Finally I’ll moisturize, probably twice, to leave a nice surface for tomorrow’s make-up ritual. Last comes fingernail polish, while a watch A Single Man. When I’m feeling sufficiently prepared, facially, I’ll get to work on my outfit. I think I have it all figured out: the theme is black and gold with sequins. I’ve got my long black blazer and my gold sequinned top. All I have to figure out then is bottoms: leggings or skirt; and shoes: what will go best with my glittery socks? Accessories will be gold and a little bit rock n’ roll. Next comes make-up: dark smokey eye with glittery liner. I’ll try a subtle pink lip and then a darker to see what I like best, but my gut instincts say play it safe. Finally I’ll pack my bags and go to bed early. If I want to make it on time, I’ll have to leave early.

Andrew: “Jesse was so nervous of this scene. He is so stupid because he is so good in it. Like he had all of this, you know, dialog to learn. He felt so under-prepared and he was so angry with himself and I think it was lovely because there was a real kind of support that we had for each other in this scene. In between takes he’d be really kind of nervous about messing up and he wanted to get it absolutely right, but I think his anger towards himself was nicely translated to his anger at me.
And then on my side of it, he kept on giving me these wonderful little ad-libs for me to react to for the last part of the scene where he, you now, I think at one point I made him say: ‘I love you, you’re my best friend. Come, and we’ll get married, and we’ll live in a house together.’
Just to kind of like give me that right kind of reaction for the end of this scene. And he really generously, you know, embarrassingly told me how much he adored me. (Giggles) It was really nice. For this last bit.”
Armie: “How much did you and Jesse talk, in like prep, before we started shooting?”
Andrew: “Oh, a bunch, yeah. About the relationship and what we’d think needed to happen. Yeah, the rehearsal was fantastic. Like at this point I think he was saying ‘I love you, you’re my best friend.’ And it’s so sweet and it really made a great difference to me and the scene, it was really generous of him.”
