I’ve spent the morning at a curling bonspiel for my new job.

  • haven’t won a game yet, but only lose by one point each time.
  • most of my shots are good, but like most things, I get worse the more I play.
  • I’ve gotten a lot better at my delivery.
  • also re-learned how to play crib.
  • made friends with a four-year-old boy who can’t pronounce his “k”s, which is too bad because his name is Jake.
  • don’t talk to anyone other than my teammates and my family.
  • assume all the men are pervy.
  • hate all the young guys.
  • everyone has been drinking since 9:00am.
  • it’s a bonspiel, I’m not surprised.
  • the dictionary wants to change “bonspiel” to “glockenspiel”.
  • have over an hour and a half until my next game.
  • just enough time to run home, watch an episode of Top Gear, and feed the cat.

alive in the age of worry

Joni, from the Canadian prairies. I try to surround myself with anything beautiful, mystical, reckless, breathtaking, elegant, adventurous, fantastic, amusing; because I can always use a little more adventure, imagination, placidity, beauty, and love in my life.
