Five Great Arthur Darvill Performances on ‘Doctor Who’ | Anglophenia | BBC America

Given the impressive range of abilities displayed by the male traveling companions of the Doctor, it’s startling to consider that Rory Pond (né Williams) had any ground left to break. But he did: first companion to die more than once, first companion to turn bumbling inefficiency into a battle plan, first companion to live for over 1,000 years, and the first to father a child within the TARDIS.

For the actor playing him, these moments of newness can’t have been that big a deal, as he has to play Rory as if everything is a first, which of course he does. However, all credit to Arthur Darvill, whose last appearance as the Last Centurion is this Saturday, for not only playing wide-eyed innocence, but also comedic huffiness at being perpetually ignored, desperate loyalty to the willful Amy, and of course, lots and lots of death scenes.

Click through for video of all five.

Satwant Singh Kaleka (65 years old) died defending the temple he built, attempting to fend off a gunman who attacked worshippers Sunday, family members said. Kaleka came to the United States with $100 in his pocket and worked tirelessly to give back to others and build a vibrant Sikh community in the south of the city.

Paramjit Kaur (41 years old) was the mother of two sons, ages 18 and 20. She was a weekly presence at the temple. She came to pray and to prepare food every Sunday for the shared meal.

Suveg Singh (84 years old) held a key role at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin. He provided fellowship. He would ask cabdrivers about their families or offer an uplifting scripture passage. Suveg Singh, who lived with his family, was known to come to the temple early in the morning and stay through the evening, sometimes as late as 7 p.m.

Prakash Singh (39 years old) had reunited with his family just 45 days ago. A priest at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin for about six years, Prakash Singh had gone to India in June, returning with his wife, 11-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter.

Ranjit Singh (49 years old). Ranjit Singh’s son was seven months old when Singh left his home in Delhi, India, and came to the United States, according to report by NDTV, a New Delhi-based media company. The boy, Gurvinder, hoped to see his father for the first time in 16 years when Singh returned to Delhi in November to celebrate the Indian holiday of Diwali, the station reported.

Sita Singh (41 years old). Priest Sita Singh moved here from New York City about six months ago to serve the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin while another priest was gone. He was shot and killed along with his older brother, Ranjit Singh.

Skins Meme: Three Quotes

Chris Miles: Jal, can’t we just- I don’t know what I’m meant to say! Jal, look at me. I was perfectly happy killing myself. All right? But then you asked me to try. And for the first time in my life, it felt like someone actually gave a shit, and that that person was worth trying for. And now… I’d fucking, I’d make the world record biggest sandwich if you asked me to. I’d kick old grannies in the tits, I’d fill the river with Panda Pops!      |1/3|

  • I…I can’t feel my legs
  • I was your only friend. You had one friend.
  • “You’ve been asleep, Cap. For almost 70 years. You gonna be okay?” “Yeah, I just…I had a date”
  • That’s what people do, isn’t it? Leave a note? Goodbye John. / I was so alone, and I owe you so much.
  • And I suppose, if it’s my last chance to say it, Rose Tyler -
  • “Even after all this time?” “Always”
  • “You okay Freddie?” “Yeah.” “Me too.”
  • Remember that you were loved by me, and that you made my life a happy one. And there’s no tragedy in that.
  • He said “don’t you lose him Samwise Gamgee. And I don’t mean to. I don’t mean to.
  • Best boss I ever had
  • My dad’s dead? […] I’m not ready for this.
  • Because if you were gonna be some lame suburban dad, why couldn’t you have been that for me?

Curtis & I grew up in the same small town in Tasmania but never met. In our early 20′s & living in Melbourne, we became close friends, often talking until the sun came up at parties but never dating. I moved to London, we exchanged emails, late night phone calls and flirtatious text messages until finally Curt got up the courage to jump on a plane and fly halfway across the world to tell me he loved me. As first dates go- moving to the other side of the world was pretty epic!
